Open Data Resources

Ready to start hacking on your Open Data Mashup entry but need to find some awesome data sources? Here are some links to get your started...

http://dev.socrata.com - The Open Data Network is a search engine that searches Socrata's entire index of tens of thousands of public datasets. We use machine learning to automatically categorize and tag datasets by type to aid discovery.

http://www.opendatanetwork.com/ - Also from Socrata. A search engine to help you find the data you need to power your business, app, or analysis from across the open data ecosystem.

http://data.worldbank.org - The World Banks's Open Data portal provides free and open access to data about development in countries around the globe.

http://www.data.gov - The home of the U.S. Government’s open data, you can find data, tools, and resources to conduct research, develop web and mobile applications, design data visualizations, and more.

Awesome Public Datasets - Neal spends a lot of late nights in the deepest darkest reaches of GitHub. Recently he found this a repo listing some really interesing public datasets. My favorite (I'm not a judge!) - Titanic Survival Data Set.

Firebase has some sweet open data sets too and you can pipe them directly them into your app.

OpenGeocode has an extensive open data catalog too.
